About Runway Moms

Runway Moms for a Cause (RMFC) is a fashion fundraising event that serves as a vehicle to raise funds for non-profit organizations. Each year, RMFC will profile and celebrate accomplishments of mothers who impact change in their communities. Defined as a visual fashion statement for Global Goodwill, RMFC is a runway show for community leaders to raise awareness for the often overlooked issue of children in the foster care system and lend a helping hand towards supporting positive change.

About the next show – benefiting Kidsave

The event will be held at The Embassy Suites, Convention Center, in Washington, DC on Thursday, May 8, 2014 as part of our 2014 Mother’s Day Weekend celebration.

The 2nd annual Runway Moms for a Cause (RMFC) black tie event will provide an opportunity for recognized Power Moms to walk the runway in an effort to raise funds for KIDSAVE (http://www.kidsave.org/), a local non-profit organization, so they may continue to carry out their mission to create changes in the foster care system by connecting children to caring families. KIDSAVE’s ultimate goal is to connect 1,000,000 orphans and foster youth to parents and mentors by 2020 so they may experience love, hope and the opportunity for a successful future. At RMFC we strive to help them reach this goal.

200 guests are anticipated to attend and will represent DC’s elite dignitaries, corporate leaders and influential members of the media. Only twenty of the area’s philanthropic “Power Moms” have been invited to participate in this initiative, and will grace the runway adorned in one-of-a-kind designs by the celebrated L~Shandi label (http://www.LShandi.com/) created by RMFC Founder Lara Akinsanya. The collection for this event will carry the theme of Vintage Chic.
